we love food. eat where we eat.

We pride ourselves in knowing the ins and outs of the NYC food world.

We met at a bar.

We proposed at a bar.

We’re getting married at a bar.

Bars and restaurants are our life. Below is a sampling of our favorite spots in this amazing city. If you have the time, please go out and explore these incredible places.

  • Maison Premiere

This New Orleans-inspired bar & restaurant in Williamsburg is where we got engaged, so this will always be near and dear to our hearts. We got engaged right by the fireplace pictured above! Their outdoor patio seating is 10 out of 10 and worth reserving.

Recommendation: oysters, bread w/seaweed butter, sazerac, Old King Cole martini.

  • The Campbell

If you’re looking for a classic speakeasy vibe, then the Campbell is the perfect place. Located right inside Grand Central Terminal, you can either enter from the street at 15 Vanderbilt Avenue (off 43rd Street) or from the main concourse of the terminal.

    Recommendation: Vesper martini, Old Fashioned

  • Agency of Record

This spot has that perfect Mad Men look from the ‘60s. Gorgeous interior design, beautiful menu, and just overall great music. A cool place to hang, just around the corner from Grand Central Terminal. Their cocktail menu is 13-pages long!

Recommendation: fried chicken bites, house-made specialty cocktails

  • Double Chicken Please

This Lower East Side favorite is the hardest to get into on this list. Expect a long wait, but it’s worth it. The fried chicken sandwiches are incredible but they are especially known for their unique cocktails.

Recommendation: hot honey fried chicken sandwich, “Cold Pizza” cocktail

  • Cote

When you think of “New York City steakhouse” you’re probably not thinking “Korean BBQ.” But this Flatiron favorite is by far one of our top 3 steakhouses in the city. Everything is cooked in front of you and don’t sleep on those cocktails.

    Recommendation: Butcher’s Feast

  • Los Tacos No. 1

New York City isn’t exactly a taco haven, but people in the know have this spot as their go-to taco joint. It isn’t called Los Tacos No. 1 for no reason. This local chain has gained the rightful reputation as being the best tacos in the city.

Recommendation: adobada and/or carne asada tacos

  • Paulie Gee's Slice Shop

There are tons and tons of excellent pizza around this city. If there was one we both love time and time again, it’s definitely Paulie Gee’s in Greenpoint. This place was the first to put hot honey on the map and it’s a local favorite.

Recommendation: slice of Hellboy (pepperoni w/hot honey)

  • Lilia

When it comes to Italian food, you’re not gonna find anything better than this renown Williamsburg restaurant. They famously turned away Jennifer Lawrence one time because she didn’t have a reservation! Respect.

Recommendation: literally any pasta on the menu, you can’t go wrong

  • Manhatta

Come for the cocktails and food, stay for the views! The 360° views from their floor-to-ceiling windows are insane. Paired with a custom cocktail and some bar snacks you got yourself a good time.

Recommendation: “Red Hook”, “Kilted Coconut,” purple sweet potato chips w/umami powder

  • Han Dynasty

This local chain is a Szechuan-style Chinese restaurant with casual vibes. The East Village location is a popular haunt of ours as well as the downtown Brooklyn spot. Great place for easy Chinese food, even greater if you want some spice in your life.

Recommendation: Dan Dan noodles, wontons w/chili oil

  • Mr. Taka Ramen

We have been going to this Lower East Side ramen joint for over 10 years. We’ve seen many local comedians dine here before going on stage. This tiny spot is that perfect hole-in-the-wall vibe for real ramen aficionados.

Recommendation: spicy cheese chasu ramen, miso ramen

  • Hanoi House

Our favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the city by far. This small dining spot has a great, casual, family-owned atmosphere and the menu is authentic and delicious. So many options, just come hungry!

Recommendation: vegetarian Bánh Mi, classic Hanoi-style beef pho
